Stamford Street eastbound closure starts

The word from the SE1 site is that a six month eastbound road closure of Stamford Street is under way, with
traffic diverted via Waterloo Road, St George's Circus and Blackfriars Road.

Thames Water says that Transport for London has agreed to alter the traffic
lights at the top of Blackfriars Road to enable drivers to turn right into
Southwark Street.

Two-way traffic is due to be reinstated in early April 2011.

It'll be interesting to see whether this impacts on Belvedere Road motor traffic volumes and cycling. Will it help encourage pupils to cycle to London Nautical School on Stamford Street?
